Zone Diet, How It Works?

By Antin. Zone Diet program is based on the idea that the right balance of protein, carbohydrates and fats will control three major hormones generated by the diet; insulin, glucagon and eicosanoids. Insulin is a storage hormone. Excess insulin makes you fat and keeps you fat. Glucagon is a mobilization hormone that tells the body to release stored carbohydrates at a steady rate to stabilized blood sugar levels. Glucagon behaves in precisely the opposite to insulin. Eicosanoids are the hormones that ultimately control silent inflammation. They are also master hormones that control balance and actions of many of the hormonal systems.

Zone diet avoid high glycemic foods like pasta, bread, and potatoes, corn, carrots, peas, bananas, raisins, and grapes. It will reduce the sugar level in our blood and keep us from insulin excess. Processing proteins and mono saturated fats does not involve insulin. Fat slows down the entry of carbohydrates into the bloodstream.

Zone diet divides our daily meal into 3 zone diet meals and 2 zone diet snacks. It isn’t only keeping you from hunger but also keeping a low calorie intake that forces the body to supply energy from resources already stored in the body. It means our body will burn fats instead of glucose and we will lose excess weight.

Exercise also an element of zone diet. If your glucose level in the blood stream is already balanced, you burn energy from your fat reserves. Now that you know how the Zone Diet works, why not give it a try?
